The filmmaking team

Assembling a small core team for a 3-week shoot (2 in early summer, 1 in autumn). Shooting dogme style with run-and-gun sound whenever possible. Location: rural Wisconsin.

Director - Rob Conrad, Chicago-based filmmaker (cardcaskets@gmail.com)

DP - Shooting digital, very open to HDSLR. With a shot list that is half outdoors in the woods and fields, sometimes with a roaming POV, the camera has to handle highlights on leaves and sparkles on water without visual artifacts. Will be shooting daytime, nighttime, interiors, some fantasy sequences. Must have an affection for outdoors and the natural world, since a good half of the picture is not interiors.

Sound Recordist - Basically want an ENG run and gun setup. Half of the story is outdoors, and there are certain sounds of the natural world that must be captured with absolute fidelity (cicadas, peacocks, wind in the treetops, etc.).

Production Designer - Interior and exterior sets. Important props to be constructed

• a very small (7x9x10 tall) period sleeping cottage with two flyaway walls, and a two-wall exterior replica of that cottage that will be burned.
• Several cardboard objects (sofa, boat)
• About a dozen cardboard caskets with ornate, beautiful, original designs stenciled on them
• a life-size, fully detailed model of a cicada, half emergent from its shell

Line Producer - Will work closely with the director and GTN throughout the production. Must have film production experience or be willing to ask lots of questions and learn rapidly. Hands on with budget and pinching every nickel, keeping databases, return calls promptly, etc. Guy or Gal Friday. Have a head that loves and craves details and remembers details and stray scraps of info.

Core crew above will get: stipend + equity share + some incidental expenses (and will share in communal living arrangements and food during the 3-week shoot, weekends off). In return: an intense, collaborative creative environment where your vision and passion are valued.

Also looking now at cast for the leads (see the Characters/Cast tab) and others that will cast locally from shooting area; and a composer (mixture of original, acapella gospel, mexican guitar-based folk, the Indian sarangi, acid jazz).
